The State Department is holding a briefing to give an update on evacuation efforts. Since August 14, more than 82,300 people have been safely flown out of Kabul, the department announced. "Only the United States could organize and execute a mission of this scale and this complexity,” Secretary Antony Blinken says. "As the president has made clear, our first priority is the evacuation of American citizens." He also says about 1,000 Americans may still need to be evacuated.
