McNeil points out that Delta is legally able to create the $200 surcharge for their unvaccinated employees. She adds that the surcharge may encourage unvaccinated employees to get vaccinated. As for businesses like restaurants and stores, service can now be denied if customers cannot provide a valid vaccination card, McNeil explains. “If you think of the motto that we often see when we’re shopping, ‘no shoes, no shirt, no service,’ well you can now add to that list during this pandemic,” McNeil says.
