10:46Now PlayingIn 2016, former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick decided to take a knee during the national anthem, which led to a huge backlash.
There is a new article in political magazine The Nation called, “5 Years After Colin Kaepernick Refused to Stand, We Still Get the Story Wrong,” that suggests the focus should not be on Kaepernick but on the mass movement of thousands of young people he helped to inspire. Sports editor Dave Zirin authored the article and has an upcoming book on the subject called, “The Kaepernick Effect: Taking a Knee, Changing the World.”
He joins Marc Lamont Hill on “Black News Tonight” to talk about the article and book.
All this and more on “Black News Tonight.”
