10:01Now PlayingBNC Live Tashanea Whitlow welcomes Fran Phoenix from Cleco, a electricity provider in Louisiana.
Around 1 million people were left without power after Hurricane Ida. Phoenix talks about how at 11 am on Monday, that number shifted to only 100,000 customers left with no power.
Phoenix talks about how 90% of their customers without power are in the St. Tammany Parish area, which is near Orleans Parrish. Phoenix believes that Ida has done some horrific damage but from Cleco’s perspective, their hardest hit areas are St. Mary’s, St. Tammany and Washington Parish. All of these locations are in the South East part of New Orleans.
While Cleco has had some damage, they are grateful that their entire area was not impacted.
