16:34Now PlayingGOP strategist Melik Abdul joins Marc Lamont Hill on “Black News Tonight” to discuss why he believes Jon Gruden’s resignation as Las Vegas Raiders’ head coach was uncalled for.
Abdul says when it comes to this idea of who should be canceled, he himself is “pretty consistent.” Referencing rappers DaBaby and Moneybagg Yo, the GOP strategist says he doesn’t believe in following the crowd when it comes to these types of offensive remarks. While he does acknowledge the bottom line in Gruden’s resignation, he said he would feel differently if Gruden made his comments directly toward the groups he was discriminating against, such as women, gay people and people of color.
The strategist says he wouldn’t hold Gruden to a standard that he doesn’t hold his friends and people he knows personally. Hill chimes in with respect, saying Abdul is “consistently wrong” in this case, as well as others.
