“Prime” host Charles Blow shares that one of the primary reasons for the desperation is a massive number of Americans quitting their jobs, with 4.3 million people doing so in August alone. The 4.3 million Americans is equivalent to 3% of the U.S. workforce.
Workers have cited concerns over COVID-19, burnout and mental health as reasons for leaving their employers, even if they have not yet found a new position. Kristen Broady, a fellow at the Brookings Metropolitan Policy Program, joins Blow to discuss these numbers and other statistics.
