First lady Jill Biden, Stacey Abrams and Taylor Swift also plan to campaign in his favor. The race has been unexpectedly tight between McAuliffe and Republican Glenn Youngkin, who are now neck in neck. McAuliffe leads Youngkin by a mere 3 percentage points, per a new CBS YouGov poll, which has a margin of error of 4 percentage points.
In a state that voted for Obama twice and for Biden in 2020, “Prime” host Charles Blow says Virginia’s gubernatorial race is shaping up to be a referendum on Democrats and their political strength, or weakness, in the first year of Biden's presidency.
