9:03Now PlayingA new federal lawsuit claims an officer involved in the shooting of a Black man in Wisconsin, is responsible for the shooting death of two other men in recent years.
Jay Anderson Jr., a Black man, was shot and killed in June of 2016 in Wauwatosa. He was sleeping in his car in a park when he was confronted by former officer Joseph Mensah, who is also Black. The officer claims he shot Anderson in self-defense, after he reached for a gun.
According to the lawsuit filed this week, the officer’s department taught him to view Black people as dangerous. The victim’s parents, Linda and Jay Anderson Sr., along with attorney Kimberley Motley, who represents the families of all three men killed by former officer Mensah, join Yodit Tewolde to discuss.
