Dec 1, 20212:49Now PlayingProminent civil rights attorney Ben Crump is now looking into the case of Christopher Williams, a Philadelphia man who spent 31 years in prison for a crime he maintains he didn’t commit.
"BNC Live” host Najahe Sherman says Williams was wrongfully convicted of six murders in the early 90s. He was exonerated earlier this year, after 25 of his 31-year prison bid on death row. Crump and Williams have now filed a lawsuit, accusing the city of Philadelphia of mishandling the case. BNC correspondent Astrid Martinez is live in Philadelphia, where Williams says police buried leads, hid evidence and coerced multiple teens into framing him. He is seeking $100 million and says he hopes his case helps other people who have been wrongfully convicted.
