11:27Now PlayingThe jury has been seated for the federal trial of three former Minneapolis police officers charged with violating George Floyd’s constitutional rights.
The 46-year-old Floyd died in May of 2020 after Derek Chauvin pinned his knee to his neck for nine and a half minutes as Floyd told him he couldn’t breathe.
Of the three officers facing federal charges, one kept onlookers from interceding, another held Floyd’s legs and another kneed his back.
If found guilty of federal civil rights violations, these men could face strong penalties including life in prison.
BNC social justice correspondent Candace Kelley joins guest host Laverne McGee on “AMplified” to discuss.
