Impaired Woman Takes an Acid Trip Into the Water

Around 6:16 PM on November 11, 2024, Patrolman Joseph White with the Vernon Township Police Department was dispatched to the scene of a motor vehicle accident in the vicinity of County Road 515 and Guthrie Road. As he arrived on scene, he noticed that a 2005 Honda CR-V had been driven into a pond. Fortunately, there were no entrapments inside the vehicle and the driver had managed to escape. The driver of the vehicle was identified as 24-year-old Rhiannon Chesaux.

As he was speaking with Rhiannon, he noticed that she was incoherent and observed indicators of impairment. Rhiannon admitted that she had taken acid (LSD) before operating a motor vehicle. The officers had to restrain her so that she would not run into the road or the water. She was placed in handcuffs and seated inside the patrol car while they waited for the ambulance to respond.

Based on her altered state of mind, field sobriety exercises were not attempted. After first responders with the Vernon Township Fire Department arrived on scene, Rhiannon was strapped to the gurney and transported to the hospital for further evaluation. Samples of her blood and urine were collected for testing at the hospital.

Patrolman White issued Rhiannon the following traffic citations:

-Operating under the influence

-Reckless driving

-Traffic on marked lanes

-Failure to possess driver insurance card

-Failure to have inspection

-Failure to notify DMV of address change

-Leaving the scene of an accident involving property damage

-Failure to report an accident

Rhiannon had previously been arrested for felony possession following a traffic stop in Montpelier, Vermont on March 15, 2022.
