Woman Argues Over Hindu Temple's Worship of God and gets Arrested

Prior Arrest

Around 8:17 PM on February 28, 2026, Patrolman Arthur Ohlsen with the Parsippany Police Department first responded to the Vrajdham Temple (120 Littleton Road) a report of a verbal dispute. He made contact with Ripal Majmundar, the Director of the temple, who told him that a female was causing a disturbance. The female, later identified as Priya Jaiswal, allegedly entered an employee-only area of the Temple office without permission and began rearranging items. Priya claimed that the temple’s worship practices were problematic, and that they were disrespecting God by keeping a religious picture of Banka Banke Bihari behind the temple.

Patrolman Ohlsen asked Priya to follow him towards the entrance of the building so he could talk to her separately. Sergeant Jeffrey Magahan and Patrolman Jesse Hughes arrived on scene shortly afterwards to assist. As Patrolman Ohlsen went to speak with the temple employees, the other 2 officers listened to why Priya felt that the Temple’s practices were disrespectful towards God. The employees told the officers that they wanted Priya to be trespassed from the premises.

In order to write a report documenting her complaint about how she felt that the temple was disrespectful towards God, they asked for her identification. She provided them with a Bergen County Inmate ID. When they ran her identification, they were advised by dispatch that Priya had an outstanding warrant out of Glen Rock in the amount of $1002. After confirming her identity, Priya was placed under arrest.

Patrolman Ohlsen transported her to the Parsippany Police Department for further processing. Priya was eventually turned over to Officer Andrew Magro and Sergeant James Calaski with the Glen Rock Police Department, who arrived at the Parsippany Police Department to take custody of her. The officers with Glen Rock PD later transported Priya to the Bergen County Jail, where she was booked in and later released on March 2, 2026.

Records indicate that Priya has multiple prior arrests. Her prior arrests include the following:

-Assault by auto (2C:12-1C(1)) in Paramus, NJ on August 30, 2025

-Criminal trespass (2C:18-3B) in Glen Rock, NJ on August 11, 2025

-Simple assault (2C:12-1A(1)) in Mahwah, NJ on November 19, 2024

-Obstruction (2C:29-1A) and resisting arrest (2C:29-2A(1)) in Englewood, NJ on November 14, 2024
