California passed a law that required all presidential candidates seeking access to the primary ballots provide five years of personal tax returns and a wavier so they could be published (minus address, ssn, and related info). The republican party objected. Perhaps surprisingly, the California Supreme Court found this law violated the CA state constitution. Today, we discuss the reason for this suprising finding.
