The affordable care act (ACA), also known as Obamacare, was one of the landmark laws of the Obama administration, and one of the more controversial ones. Over the years, the act had been subject to numerous court challenges, including US Supreme Court hearings.

In the latest legal challenge, the fifth circuit takes a look at an amendment to the ACA which lowered the penalty for non-compliance for an individual to nothing. This change is argued to have undone the very underpinnings of the law that allowed it to be upheld previously.

In today's case, we review this decision, and discuss the ongoing legal implications of this troubled law.
