In this episode, Sal Mercogliano - former merchant mariner and maritime historian at Campbell University - discusses the potential decision of the United States to relax its sanctions against Iranian oil as prices at the pump reach record levels. In late May, a Russian-owned tanker on the State Department sanction list was seized in Greek waters and the Iranian cargo on board was transferred to the US-leased Liberian-flag tanker. This resulted in the seizure of two Greek tankers by the Iranians in the Persian Gulf. All of this has led to further instability in the tanker sector and a question about what each side will do next.
