Famous pop singer Ariana Grande gave a concert in Manchester, UK on Monday May 22nd that went as planned until the very end. A 22 year old man by the name of Salman Abedi is suspected of carrying out a suicide bomb attack in the foyer area of Manchester Arena as concert goers were exiting the venue. As of right now, at least 22 people have died and as many as 120 have been injured. The bomb had a large blast radius but was also packed with nails for maximum shrapnel impact which caused the large number of injuries. Of course it is being treated as a terror attack and ISIS has said that the person is a “solider” for their cause.

This tragedy is much more egregious than some of the other attacks in the UK over the past few years including the one that just happened two months ago in London at Westminster Abbey. And the reason for that is because many of the deceased are very young girls, children. The children who were injured will be scarred for life. Ariana Grande is only 23 years old herself. Grande was backstage during the tragedy and she nor anyone else in her camp were injured at all. She is cancelling the rest of her tour dates in Europe most likely due to security concerns and due to the fear this has caused.

Salman Abedi was known to the police already but outside of that, not much about him is known as of the current moment. Although just judging by his name and the action he did, it’s pretty easy to add two and two together. An anchor for the BBC who was given some airtime on MSNBC said that UK/Europe just has to get used to these types of attacks because of what’s happening in Syria. Which is a silly comment to make because the person may have been born in UK. And just because a war is happening in another country does not mean that you must open your doors to any and everyone who requests. Mentalities like the one of the BBC anchor is part of the reason why social degeneration continues to plague Europe. Hopefully it will end soon or these attacks will most certainly become the new reality.
