14:12Now PlayingKathy Griffin had a photoshoot with photographer Tyler Shields in which she raised up an effigy of what appears to be Donald Trump’s bloody head, invoking a beheading. Griffin is a 56 year old comedian and a self-proclaimed D-list celebrity. It’s hard to tell if this photoshoot is a one-off deal or if it part of a larger conspiracy or the “resistance.” In behind-the-scenes footage, Griffin told Shields that they may have to flee to Mexico because of it. Which was said in a joking way, of course. But should simulating the brutal assassination of a President be a laughing matter? Should it be criminal?
Of course, this is not the first time celebrities have made threatening statements or promoted threatening things against President Trump. George Lopez tweeted a picture of Mexican Drug Lord “El Chapo” atop a hill of skulls and money with the severed head of Donald Trump. Madonna said she felt like she wanted to “blow up the White House.” For some reason, those incidents have not appeared to have gained any type of scrutiny from federal law enforcement, even though they should. If a normal person on the street did that, they would most certainly be under investigation if not arrested right away.
All of the hateful rhetoric and symbolism towards Donald Trump is reminiscent of what ISIS does in the middle east. It’s nearly verbatim the exact same thing. The threatening of a people to change their ideology by manufacturing propaganda featuring beheading. The removal of historic monuments in order to install the history that “they” feel is the correct thing to do. All of this has been written before in several books including the very famous 1984. Much of what was written in that book, and many others, has now come to fruition. Hopefully this pattern does not continue.
