1:01:01Now PlayingIt seems every day someone is silenced, be it through removal from social media outlets, to being banned from crowdfunding and payment processing. This is happening not just to political commentators, but comedians and creators of across the board, often with little to no explanation, in a clear attempt by silicon valley tech companies to control expression, and no one person perhaps so thoroughly frustrates those in power than Pewdiepie, being seemingly too large to shut down, with another rash of media hit pieces being written about him once again. Threats to freedom result in a phenomena known as psychological reactance; however, given the ubiquity of big tech and payment processors, is there any hope for us to stand up and defend those threatened freedoms? What happens when a threat to freedom becomes total loss of freedom? Will we still experience that desire to restore it, or will we fall into a cycle of learned helplessness.
