Churches are non-profit entities making them exempt from taxes on any income that they make. However, the idea of separating church and state has become an argument that is leaving people conflicted. Churches are void of paying property taxes as well. This means that if a town has many churches, the towns can end up losing a lot of money.
If non-religious events are held inside their facilities and they collect money, the churches get to keep they money and none of the money goes back to the town. Along with avoiding property taxes, social media users are noticing that churches are becoming increasingly political. The idea of separation of church and state left some users calling on changes to be made towards those who talk religion during their services.
