Boris Johnson Resigned & Russia Gains Ground In Eastern Ukraine | Oh My World!

British Prime Minister Boris johnson announced he was resigning and he'll stay in office until a new leader is elected likely in a few months.

Here's what happened.

One of his political appointees named Chris Pincher was accused of sexual misconduct and apparently Boris Johnson knew about this even as he continued to promote him.

The story started last week when Chris Pincher resigned from his political appointment after complaints that he groped two men at a private club.

So people wondered how much did Boris know when he appointed this guy as Conservative Deputy Chief Whip, which is ironically, a job where you enforce party discipline.

At first, the Prime Minister's team said Boris Johnson wasn't aware of the accusations, but then they changed their tune and said he didn't know but that the accusations were either resolved or did not progress to a formal complaint.

Then a former top civil servant said Boris Johnson was briefed about an allegation that resulted in a formal complaint and so Boris Johnson’s team said he simply forgot about this little tidbit of damning news.

So then his government started to crumble. Two of his Cabinet ministers resigned, a bunch of junior officials resigned, and then Boris fired one of his top ministers after he encouraged Boris Johnson to step down. And he really tried to hang on but he finally announced he would resign.

Russia has totally solidified its control in the east after it took the last city in the Luhansk region that was still under Ukrainian control.

Russia has completely destroyed it while thousands of civilians or in bomb shelters. A lot of the press is focusing on this area but there are a lot of signs that Russia is not done with its plans for the rest of Ukraine.

They've been attacking Odessa, which is a port city in the south where they struck a residential building and also a resort. None of these, by the way, our military installations, it's just part of an effort to destroy the country and break the people.

And this is an important point. As part of Russia's campaign in Ukraine, it is doing everything it can to erase Ukrainian culture and history and also to prevent anyone from living a normal life.

So they've targeted churches across the country. Anywhere that holds Ukrainian art performance halls, schools, shopping malls.

This is a common war tactic by authoritarian governments.

Meanwhile, Russia's foreign minister Sergei Lavrov called on the world this week to protect international laws because the world is evolving in a complicated manner.

The G20 foreign ministers will meet this week in Bilt, which is the world's 20 largest economies.

So it's kind of like the B-List after the G7 and US Secretary of State, Tony Blinken said he will not meet with Sergei Lavrov.

But it highlights an important thing which is that although diplomatic negotiations are needed to end this war, it doesn't look like it's on the agenda for anybody anytime soon.
