1:52Now PlayingThe government just got caught using big tech to violate your constitutional rights. Recently uncovered and leaked documents from the Department of Homeland Security have proven that America's most powerful law enforcement agencies, including the FBI and DHS, as well as the Biden White House, had been closely collaborating with top tech platforms to censor stories and information that your government rulers don't like.
Specifically, these documents which were released in court and leaked to The Intercept so that tech companies like Facebook and Twitter created special portals for agencies like the FBI or DHS to instantly take down content that government officials considered quote "disinformation." So, in other words, the organizations which were designed to go after foreign threats and terrorists are now being turned inwards to silence Americans who say things that challenge the official government narratives.
This is really scary stuff, and it's unconstitutional. The First Amendment bars the government from deciding for us what is true or false, online or anywhere else, and for good reason. Oftentimes, the biggest and most destructive lies have originated from the government. Think about the weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. Or, more recently, the misinformation by government officials concerning the Hunter Biden laptop story or the origins of COVID are the ability of the vaccines to prevent infection and transmission, and we can go on and on.
The government is not allowed to violate the free speech rights of Americans, nor can it push private parties or tech platforms to do so. Regardless of which political party we support, we should all demand an end to the censorship practices and refuse to support any politician who endorses them. Because as we've seen throughout history, without the freedom to speak, there is simply no freedom at all.
