1:49Now PlayingTraditional oral care is having a moment, and honestly, some of it deserves the spotlight.
For thousands of years before toothpaste and electric brushes, people cared for their mouths with what was already around them. And a lot of it still holds up under modern research. A few worth knowing about:
✔️ Oil pulling
Swishing coconut or sesame oil helps reduce bacteria and support the oral microbiome without harsh chemicals.
✔️ Chewing on fibrous foods
Raw carrots, apples, and celery mechanically clean teeth, stimulate saliva, and strengthen the jaw. Simple and effective.
✔️ Salt water rinsing
Used across cultures for centuries to calm inflammation and soothe sore gums, and still holds up today.
✔️ Baking soda
A gentle, alkaline option that neutralizes acid and supports enamel without the harsh additives found in most toothpastes.
Ancient wisdom often had more science behind it than we gave it credit for.
