Main Chapters:

Anger is one of the basic human emotions, elicited when we perceive that something important is unfair and that we can't immediately change it. Most of our other negative emotions shut us down and cause us to withdraw, but anger propels us to talk louder, lean in, and engage. Anger can be a powerful force for change, but that force can be either productive (working to overcome social injustices) or destructive (rageful lashing out).

Anger is particularly effective at unleashing anger in others. Loops of escalating anger seldom end well. Understanding anger helps in diverting away from anger when it is unhelpful, and to channel it in useful directions when holding onto it feels warranted.
