Sarah Huckaby Sanders desperately wants to be the next Republican governor of the state of Arkansas. And unfortunately looks like she's probably on her way to being just that. But this week, obviously a little hiccup emerged, right? And that hiccup was that Sarah Huckaby, Sanders, former boss, Donald Trump came out and called Vladimir Putin, a genius for invading Ukraine. And Trump did not walk back his comments. If anything, he kind of doubled down on him throughout the week. Even as the invasion continued, as Russia was right on, you know, the, the edge of taking, uh, Kiev bombing areas where school children were watching their city be bombed.
And Sarah Huckabee Sanders was asked by her democratic opponent, the leading democratic opponent man, by the name of Chris Jones was asked very simply, can you condemn these comments from Donald Trump saying Putin is a genius. People are getting CA there's no reason for you to not come out and say, Hey, I disagree with Trump on this. So here is what Mr. Jones had to say to Sarah Huckaby Sanders. He tweeted this out on Thursday afternoon. This is your chance to really stand up for freedom and democracy, do the right thing. Vow Donald Trump on this issue, call him out, stand with innocent people of Ukraine who are now being slaughtered.
That's it disavow him on this issue. And I, and I think it's very telling that Mr. Jones was very clear, like on this issue, this is all you gotta do this one thing, come out and just be like, yeah, Hey Donald, uh, you're wrong. He's not a genius, but apparently that's too hard for Sarah Huckaby Sanders to do it's too hard. Apparently for many Republicans to do, they don't wanna be the ones to off Donald Trump. I mean, hell let's not forget. Even as CPAC was going on, you also have what was being called as a candidate forum, taking place at Margo where people like Marsha Blackburn, Ted Cruz, Lindsey Graham, Jim Jordan, and a whole host of other Republican candidates went to Margo to basically kiss Donald Trump's butt. So no, they're not gonna disavow his statements. No, they're not gonna come out and say, well, I, I disagree with him on this issue.
One because they probably don't disagree with him. And two, because they're afraid of him. Let's be very clear here. Donald Trump does not have actual power within the Republican party. They're pretending he has power. He's pretending he has power. And maybe, I guess by virtue of them, both thinking it exists, maybe it does kind of exist, but in the real world, there's literally nothing Donald Trump can do to you. What what's the worst he could do is put out one of his little idiotic statements from Mar Lago, send it out and hope somebody posted on Twitter, because if not, nobody's gonna see it. Nobody's gonna do anything. Oh, what's he gonna do put some, somebody up to run a primary against you. Okay. Well that actually increases your chances of being victorious in the race. His endorsement is a kiss of death. The candidates that he has put forward so far this year to primary Republicans, he doesn't like are doing terribly. So again, the man has literally no power, literally no influence. And here is Sarah Huckaby Sanders being given the very easy opportu to say that she disagrees with him on one issue, but the woman is so weak. She refuses to even do that.
