9:58Now PlayingSo how exactly should we talk to God in prayer? Should we talk to God casually? Should we be fearful when praying? These are all very important questions to consider when figuring out how to pray. The thing is, most of us feel we should pray, yet we struggle to actually do it, or we do pray, but we feel our prayer lives are empty. In this video we're going to explore the healthy tension that should exist in our prayer life between reverence and intimacy. On one hand, we're approaching God who is an all-consuming fire and ruler of the cosmos, yet at the same time, he invites us to relate to him as children to a father. I think this balance is demonstrated in the most famous prayer, The Lord's Prayer, as you'll see in the video. This video is the start of a new series, "Learning to Pray," and it's my hope that it would help you find new vitality in your prayer life, turning prayer into a joy rather than an obligation. How to Pray: A Simple Guide for Normal People - This book by Pete Greig was a big inspiration for both this series and this specific episode. While I would humbly disagree with some of his positions, on the whole it is a wonderful book that I would highly recommend.
