Senator Gary Dahms, R-Redwood Falls, began by offering details on the recent conference committee agreement on the Minnesota Premium Security Act, the reinsurance bill that would allocate $271 million dollars per year to insurance companies who offer coverage in the individual health insurance marketplace. Senator Mary Kiffmeyer, R-Big Lake, spoke of the State Government Committee’s desire to increase transparency and bend the cost curve down in the $802 million dollar budget, representing a decrease of 2.8 percent from the previous budget. Finally, Senator Bill Ingebrigtsen, R-Alexandria, provided details on the $274 million dollar target for the Senate’s Environment and Natural Resources bill, including a provision that would allow anglers to pay an addition $5 to fish with two lines.
