3:14Now PlayingThe All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Delhi, which is one among 12 sites for the phase I and phase II of human clinical trials of the indigenously developed Covid-19 vaccine candidate 'Covaxin', has started the human trial.
Over 1800 volunteers have registered themselves in AIIMS for the trial.
These volunteers will be undergoing a battery of tests including RTPCR and serological test for screening of COVID19 before they are administered Covaxin.
Each of the volunteer, who is undergoing the trial would be insured for Rs 50 lakh, said Sanjay Rai, the principal investigator.
The Covaxin has been developed by the Hyderabad-based Bharat Biotech in collaboration with the Indian Council for Medical Research (ICMR) and the National Institute of Virology (NIV).
