3:19Now PlayingDefence Minister Rajnath Singh announced import embargo on various defence items. The timeline for the items provided is 2020-2024. The Minister said this is an atmanirbhar push for the defence sector. This move will make them self reliant and also encourage manufacturers to make products in this sector.
Items on the negative list will also be manufactured using their own designs or with the help of the technology of the DRDO to meet requirements of the armed forces. Srinjoy says 101 items have been listed in the import embargo. 5 lakh crores have been extended for this move. 85,000 crore will be spent on the LCA which is indigenous. Items on the embargo list include satellites, submarines, weapon simulators etc.
