On Sunday, Kanimozhi tweeted about how a CISF officer asked her if she's an Indian at the airport when the DMK MP objected over the officer giving instructions in Hindi.
Kanimozhi also added '#HindiImposition' on her tweet. Though CISF officials met with her, apologized and Kanimozhi appreciated their quick response, several other leaders have also spoken out on the issue.
Congress leader and former Finance Minister, P Chidambaram has said that the unpleasant experience of Kanimozhi us not unusual.
In fact, Chidambaram stated that he too has experienced such taunts from government officers and ordinary citizens who had insisted him to speak in Hindi.
HD Kumaraswamy, the former CM of Karnataka hs stated that Political leaders from the South have been deprived of opportunities by Hindi politics and discrimination which has prevented many from South India becoming Prime Minister.
The JDS leader alleged that the ruling class ignores the South with disdain.
Meanwhile, Kanimozhi's brother and DMK leader MK Stalin condemned the issue and questioned if this is 'India or Hindi-ya?'
