35:14Now PlayingOn the Urban Debate today, Tanvi Shukla talks about one of the most pertinent and persistent problems, especially in this day and age and that is social media, which has become a weapon, Uttar Pradesh police and government have claimed that the Hathras case is being used in order to bring disharmony in the state of Uttar Pradesh. Posters have been shared online, fake news and protests have been called, all with the help of social media. Similar is the case in Maharashtra in connection to the Sushant Singh Rajput case. After the AIIMS panel ruled out murder, Mumbai police has begun its operation to mull down the fake news that was maligning the image of the Mumbai Police.
The Maharashtra government has now come out and said that there was a larger conspiracy to defame the Mumbai Police and the government. The Mumbai police are probing nearly 80,000 social media accounts, belonging to people from different countries and are fake, as per Mumbai police. They further add that 80,000 fake social media handles were created around that story in order to discredit the Mumbai Police. The governments now repeatedly blame the social media for a coordinated large attempt to target the government.
