While it is always witnessed that in states like Bihar, corruption, law and order, and caste based politics are some of the favourite topics while campaigning, there seems to be a difference this time.
Most parties have opened dialogue of unemployment in the state and made several promises to provide better opportunities. It is important to note that Bihar contributes to 15 lakh migrants leaving the state in lieu of jobs. The question remains, has this contributed to making it the number one issue of the Election?The Coronavirus pandemic has only added to the issue of unemployment. RJD’s Tejashwi Yadav has promised 10 lakh jobs to the people. BJP and JDU have mocked the promise, questioning its validity.
Sarika Paswan, Spokesperson for RJD commented on the same and said 4.5 lakhs job already exist as government jobs in Bihar which can easily be given. She further states that remaining 5.5 lakh jobs are also related to these. According to her, 10 lakh vacancies exist right now for doctors, engineers, teachers and more.
Anshul Avijit from the Indian National Congress stated that the number of youth unemployed in Bihar is more than 30%, which is a critical figure. This, he says, will determine the course of the election. He further adds, that the party has got good growth rate and growth creates jobs.
