Finance Ministry in their press briefing gave a push to Atmanirbhar Bharat 3.0. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman introduced a 12-point stimulus package, which is being called Atmanirbhar Bharat Rozgaar Yojana. The package aims to incentivize jobs and help the distressed sectors as well. This comes in as a big boost before Diwali, but how much will it push for the economic revival, is something that is yet to be seen. The package has been introduced at a time when the country is battling the COVID pandemic, but how will the package impact the citizens post-COVID is what the debate is going to focus on.
Senior Economist and Professor Santosh Mehrotra state that millions have lost jobs in our country and poverty is increasing by the day, so what size of the stimulus is and when you put it in the position is critical. He further adds that it is critical to keep people above the poverty line and generate demand.
