The Yogi Adityanath administration promised in 2019 to establish a new university in Aligarh named after Raja Mahendra Pratap. He is the one who formed the interim government of India in Afghanistan in 1915. The university's establishment was announced on September 14, 2019. Yogi Adityanath, the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, gave a warm welcome to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This event is also seen as a mega outreach to the Jatt community.
