Earlier, the Reserve bank of India slashed the GDP projections for Financial Year 2023 from 7.8 per cent to 7.2 per cent. This came in with a warning by the RBI over the Russia Ukraine war crisis, and how it could impact India’s economic recovery from the big jolt left by the Covid-19 pandemic. In addition, the Reserve Bank of India also increased the inflation projections from 4.5 per cent to 5.7 per cent. On this, Nitin Desai, Former Under-Secretary-General for Economic & Social Affairs, U.N, comments, stating that 'RBI is right to downgrade growth because of the export growth; since we haven't had consumption & investment growth.'
