The Karnataka government has formed a 5-member team to investigate the VIMS incident, in which two patients admitted to the ICU died during a power outage. Two patients in the ICU of Vijayanagar Institute of Medical Sciences (VIMS) died on Wednesday as a result of a suspected power outage. The generator, too, was said to be inoperable. Moula Husain and Chittemma were killed. However, according to VIMS director Dr. T Gangadhara Gouda, one of the deceased patients had multi-organ failure, while the other died after being bitten by a snake. "Their deaths were natural, and the power outage was purely coincidental," Dr. Gouda added. Patients' relatives claimed that there was a power outage between 6 a.m. and 10 p.m.
