25:35Now PlayingIn this episode of The Urban Debate with Shreya Dhoundial, we will discuss Karnataka's High Court's observation about reducing the age of Consensual sex. According to Live Law on Sunday, the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses, or POCSO, Act, the Karnataka High Court has requested that the Law Commission reconsider the legal minimum age of consent. According to the POCSO Act, the legal age of consent for sex in India is 18. Sexual contact with a girl under the age of 18 is considered rape, and her consent is not deemed to be legitimate.
High Court today asked the law commission to rethink consent laws for couples to have sex. Deepika Bhardwaj activist, said, ' it is deplorable to see a school-going boy charged with rape cases after consensual sex.'
