Chua is an American lawyer, academic and writer who currently teaches at Yale Law School. In 2003, Chua published her first book, the New York Times Bestseller 'World on Fire: How Exporting Free Market Democracy Breeds Ethnic Hatred and Global Instability'.
Chua's third book, 'Battle Hymn of the Tiger Mother' is a semi-autobiographical book about her childhood and her mother's strict, Confucianist parenting style. It was an international success, becoming a best seller in the United States, the UK, mainland Europe, China and several other East Asian countries; it has since been translated in to over 30 languages.
