Róbert Ragnar Spanó is an Icelandic-Italian judge. He graduated the University of Iceland in 1997 with a Candidatus Juris degree, going on to be special assistant to the Parliamentary Ombudsman of Iceland from 1998 to 2004. In 2000, he graduated Oxford with a Magister Juris degree with distinction in European and comparative law. In 2009 he became Parliamentary Ombudsman himself, where he served until 2013 when he joined the European Court of Human Rights, where he became Vice President in 2019 and President in 2020.
