A top Texas Republican is breaking with Ken Paxton and backing James Talarico. Former Tarrant County Judge Glenn Whitley told a rally in Arlington that he was “ashamed” Paxton was even on the ballot and called him “the most corrupt politician that Texas has ever seen.”
Whitley laid out a blistering case against Paxton, citing securities fraud charges, whistleblower claims, his impeachment on allegations of bribery and abuse of office, and questions about how Paxton became a multimillionaire while serving in public office.
The stakes for Black Texans and control of the U.S. Senate could not be higher. Roland Martin argues that Black turnout could be decisive in Texas, and a Talarico victory could help Democrats seize the Senate majority, block Trump nominees, and prevent Trump from reshaping the Supreme Court for another generation.
