YouTube Description
as posted by the channelLeague of Nations was formally established on Jan 10, 1920, by victorious powers. Woodrow Wilson, the American president was the main advocate of these ideas. He mentioned the formation of a World Institution in his fourteen points.
In its organization, League of Nations consisted of Assembly, Council, International Court of Justice, Council of Ambassadors, International Labor Organization, committees/Commissions and Secretariat. The Assembly was the Parliament of League of Nations. Every member of the Assembly had veto power which made it difficult to pass any legislation. The Council consisted of four permanent members. All had veto power over any decision of League of Nations. Only Japan was from Asia, all others were Europeans. International Court of Justice consisted of Fifteen Judges. But it had no army or force to implement her decisions. This made this institution ineffective. There were four commissions which include a commission for refugees, slavery, Health, and Mandates. International Labor Organization was for the labors to decide their time, wages and working hours. Secretariat was responsible for the Administrative tasks and publishing Treaties signed between countries.
