as posted by the channelIndian Independence Act was actually the act of the United Kingdom’s parliament. After passing this act from the parliament the royal gave assent and it was implemented. British at that time wanted to leave India. Attlee announced that full independence would be granted to the people of India till June 1947. According to this plan, the new states would be given the status of dominion until they framed their own constitution. An important provision of this act includes the division of British India into two dominion states, the partition of Punjab and Bengal, the establishment of the office of Governor-General, princely states and abolition of the title of “Emperor of India”. There was also a partition of the commission who will partition the economic and military assets between the two newly formed states. Indian Independence Act makes it clear that the new constitution will be according to the people of respective dominion. It was also written in the Indian Independence Act that the act of 1935 will be active with little changes until both of the dominions make their own constitution.
