as posted by the channelFascism emerged in Italy after World War 1. Italy joined Britain, the USA, and France hoping to get colonies but in the end, it was allotted no colonies. This coupled with other factors created an uneasiness in Italy. Due to war, Italy had unemployment, inflation, and corruption. This context allowed Mussolini to organize his Fascist party and get power in Italy. Mussolini captured power in 1922 in Rome. In 1925 he destroyed the parliamentary system in Italy and established a fascist state. till 1929, all the power was to the Duce, the leader.
After assuming power, Mussolini abolished all the political parties in Italy. Italy became his state ruled by him. In place of the old parliament, Mussolini established a new corporative parliament which was headed by the “Grand Council of Fascism”. There was severe censorship and editors were appointed to spread fascist ideas.
Some of the basic beliefs of fascism can be attributed as; Fascism repudiates democracy, liberty, equality, and majority rule, government of the elite and by the elite, authoritarian, nationalistic, and totalitarian state, promotion of war, and others.
