Will American oil companies ever voluntarily switch to producing renewable energy? No, says this week’s guest Antonia Juhasz, American oil and energy analyst, author, journalist and activist. What we’ll actually see from these companies in the coming years is that they’re going to compete to see who can sell the last barrel of oil.
While corporations like Shell, a Dutch oil company, are being mandated by European/Dutch law to switch their methods of energy production away from fossil fuels and towards renewable sources, American oil companies are trodding right along like the Earth isn’t super flammable right now. Then again, maybe this is a good thing, as we wouldn’t want the executives of a company like Exxon in charge of our solar or wind power.
