7:11Now PlayingRepresentative Sarah McBride is living rent-free in the heads of Republicans. They misgendered her during a committee hearing, and all hell broke loose.
If you don’t know, Rep. Sarah McBride of Delaware is the first openly transgender person to be elected to Congress. As a result, she has been the target of vitriol from brain-rotted, anti-trans freaks on the right. Rep. Nancy Mace has made it life goal to antagonize McBride, by pushing bathroom bans at the capitol, and literally calling her a “tranny” in official hearings. Maybe Mace should focus on helping people from her state of South Carolina who are still recovering from hurricane Helena? But that would require her to actually care, oh well!
Rep. McBride has taken all of this in stride, choosing to not engage with the hate and focusing on legislation. That being said, things came to a head at the House Foreign Affairs subcommittee hearing on Tuesday. The Chairman of the subcommittee, Rep. Keith Self, decided to refer to the representative from Delaware as, “Mr. McBride.” She quickly clapped back, calling Keith, “Madame Chair.” Oh snap!
But then Rep. Bill Keating, a Democrat from Massachusetts, jumped to McBride’s defense, berating Keith Self for being out of order. Keith adjourned the meeting rather than properly address Sarah McBride, which is truly a testament to how ludicrous the GOP is. These sad, little Republicans can’t take the heat.
