YouTube Description
as posted by the channelWayne DeMario, a Miami-Dade small business owner and Trump voter, says ICE put his fiancée Yamile Alcantu — a legal U.S. resident of 25 years — "in
shackles and chains" at a routine check-in. He has spent his life savings
trying to free her and is now paying out of pocket for her food and tampons
in a Louisiana detention facility. She has not seen an immigration judge.
Yamile Alcantu came to the United States legally 25 years ago via the visa
lottery. She checked in with ICE annually as required and was detained at a
routine check-in appointment. The Department of Homeland Security classified her as "the worst of the worst" on the basis of a 2008 traffic stop where three Xanax pills were found. She has since been moved from Jacksonville, Florida to a detention facility in Louisiana without seeing an immigration judge. Wayne DeMario has spent his life savings on legal fees and is now paying for her food, clean clothes, and a tablet so she can communicate with family.
DeMario voted for Trump and describes watching the system he trusted
shackle his fiancée at a routine appointment: "I really thought this was
going to be something more organized. But it's obviously not. They just
blanket everybody." The Trump administration added $75 billion in new ICE
funding. Florida's "Operation Tidal Wave" produced over 10,000 arrests in
10 months. DeMario now calls the detention system "a giant money pit" and
says he will never vote Republican again: "I'm sorry I voted for that a-hole."
This is the Trump immigration machine in dollars and cents — not at the
border but inside a Miami-Dade household. In shackles. In drained savings
accounts. In a man buying tampons for the woman he loves through a
government detention system charging families for the privilege of holding
their people.
