Republicans Are Creating Fake Controversies Just To Stay Outraged

Conservatives have nothing to be upset about right now, but they are still angrier than ever. And the irony is that they are angry about things that they created in order to make themselves angry. A great example of this is the outrage over "Critical Race Theory" among Republicans. Fox News has mentioned Critical Race Theory over 1,300 times since March because they need some kind of boogeyman to keep their base in line. Ring of Fire's Farron Cousins explains what's happening.

You know, for a group that really has nothing to be angry about, conservatives sure are angry these days, aren't they? And in order to justify their anger and to keep their anger going, what they've been doing since Biden was sworn in as president, is they're creating these fake little controversies, fake scandals, just to keep themselves off and to keep their base riled up. One of the best examples of this is critical race theory, right. Something that six months ago, most people in this country had never even heard, but Republicans needed a boogeyman. Republicans needed an enemy and so critical race theory became that enemy to the point where since March, since the beginning of March, Fox news has mentioned the phrase critical race theory at least 1300 times, 1,300 times the network has said the phrase critical race theory, since March of this year, because they're out there pushing it as some kind of great evil in society today.

And by the way, critical race theory, in case you're not familiar with it, it's been around since the 1970s. And it is the theory that racism not only persists today, but is also essentially built into systems and institutions throughout the United States. Everything from housing, banking, things like that, it is everywhere. And by the way, there's plenty of stats and figures and statistics and things to back all these claims up. And that's why Republicans don't want it to be taught because it's true. But nobody was in danger if critical race theory was thought, was taught, excuse me, pardon me. In most areas of the country in most school districts, this isn't a thing that people were taught. Okay. I know down here in my deep, deep, dark red district in Florida, where I also went to school, never heard of it, never heard of it. When I went to college studying political science, it was never brought up in anything, ever.

So yes, when I say most people are not taught this, most people are not. So it's not even a scandal. Yet we have Republicans, Republican lawmakers, Republican state leaders, passing legislation right now to ban the teaching of critical race theory. So you're banning something that's not even happening in your idiotic state to begin with. It should be happening. You should be learning about it, but you're not. But you're banning it anyway, just so you can keep your base riled up. The other thing, and we've talked about this at length as well, is the transgendered athletes ban, oh my God, you've got men dressing up as women and they're going to go win all the gold medals because that's apparently worth it. I don't know what the hell the reasoning is for this. But states have also created this controversy. It's a nontroversy is what it is. It's not a controversy, it's a nontroversy.

But Republicans kept pushing it. They've passed legislation that is wildly oppressive and helps to further stigmatize an already marginalized group. They created a scandal where one didn't exist, just so they could be off and they could pass legislation and be like, see, we've done something. We've addressed this big issue that we created out of thin air. Don't fall for it. If you're a Republican and you believe these idiotic things that these people are saying, then you're the reason they keep doing them. You're the reason the Republican party is as stupid as it is.
