Former Tea Party Republican Congressman Joe Walsh said during a recent interview that Marjorie Taylor Greene could, essentially, be the next Speaker of the House as she continues to pull the strings on Kevin McCarthy. Greene received a lot of concessions from McCarthy in exchange for backing his speakership, and she'll be looking to cash in those favors and more if he wants to stay in power. Ring of Fire's Farron Cousins discusses what we can expect.

Former Tea Party Republican Congressman Joe Walsh, who claims he has seen the light. He is no longer a Republican. Donald Trump opened his eyes to how horrible the Republican party has become. But Joe Walsh said this past weekend that even though Kevin McCarthy is probably going to be speaker of the house in the next Congress behind the scenes, the real speaker of the house is terrifyingly. Enough going to be Marjorie Taylor Green. Here is what Joe Walsh had to say. This was from Sunday on msnbc and he makes a great point. Kevin McCarthy is a hollow man. Look, this is too late. These house moderates who want Republicans to focus on immigration or healthcare or inflation, it's too late. The American people don't know who these house Republican moderates are. They know who Marjorie Taylor Green is. McCarthy will probably be speaker, but let's be real Marjorie Taylor Green. These next two years will be the speaker of the house. She will have McCarthy by the short hairs every single day of the week for the next two years.

And again, he's not wrong because we've already seen that in action. We know now that the reason Marjorie Taylor, uh, green kind of rebuffed the rest of her Freedom Caucus freaks and came out and endorsed McCarthy for speaker, is because she got a buttload of concessions from McCarthy. Things that he is going to let her investigate, possibly committees that she is going to appoint herself to. We've already seen that happen. And McCarthy is going to be the spineless yes man to whatever Marjorie Taylor Green asks him to do. If she wants to investigate Hunter Biden again, he's gonna let her do it. If she wants to launch a hundred investigations into Hunter Biden, he's gonna let her do it. If she follows through with her statement that she'll impeach Biden every week, McCarthy's gonna let her do it all because she endorsed him for speaker.

And that of course kind of cleared the path for him to win. Uh, not a, not a solid convincing victory for McCarthy, but it did put green at odds with her fellow, you know, mag fanatics like Matt Gates. But she got what she wanted. Also, Kevin McCarthy could clinging to power and he knows that at any given point that power can be taken away from him. All the Republicans have to do is do another simple vote and they can get McCarthy outta that speakership position. It's not that difficult for them to do if he doesn't play ball. So it's not just like, okay, he gets elected speaker and then he has nothing to worry about. They can change that at any given time. They can take it away from him. So he does have to continuously play ball. He has to give into the freaks and the fanatics because the second he doesn't, they're

Gonna gonna caucus all the other Republicans, get them to vote, to strip him of his speakership, and then we may actually end up with Marjorie Taylor Green as the real speaker, not just the puppet master behind the scenes. So it's a terrifying thought, but it is something that we all have to be paying attention to. And I also think it's absolutely insane that Marjorie Taylor Green, who is still in her first term in January, is the start of the beginning of her second term in Congress, but she hasn't even been there a full two years, and she is already wielding this much power. That's nuts. We have never seen a first year member of Congress, who by the way, hasn't been on a committee for over a year wield this much power.
