In an interview with Time Magazine, Donald Trump was asked if there could be political violence - akin to January 6th - if he loses the election in November. Rather than calling for peace or even saying that violence won't happen, Trump said "it depends." The former President is NOT ruling out calls for violence if he loses, but he did say that he doesn't think it'll happen because he doesn't plan on losing (as if anyone ever does.) In the Time Magazine interview with Donald Trump that was published this week, the former president failed to say that there would not be any violence if he loses the 2024 election. In fact, he said it depends. Maybe there will be, maybe there won't be. Who knows? He says, it just all depends on, you know, the, the circumstances of the election. Now, I'm gonna read you Donald Trump's full quote, and it starts with this. He says, I don't think we're going to have that. I think we're going to win. And then the reporter asked, well, what if you don't win, sir? And that's when Trump said, if we don't win, you know, it depends. It always depends on the fairness of an election. It doesn't matter how fair this year's election will be. Obviously the 2020 election was fair, but Donald Trump being a sore loser claimed that it was not.

So this election could be totally fair, just like 20 20 0 instances of fraud. But Donald Trump was still, no matter what, no matter how many votes he loses by, he will still go out there and claim the election was stolen. And we know that because he's already saying it. He is already laying the groundwork to claim that this election was stolen. He has accused the Democrats for over a year now of engaging in election interference with the 2024 election because he's facing criminal charges for what he allegedly did. So there is no amount of evidence that will ever convince Donald Trump that 2020 and the upcoming 2024 elections were fair, none. Because he has all the evidence that it was fair and he still chooses to say otherwise. So this comment is not, oh, it depends on if the election's fair. No, what he is saying is that if he loses, there will be violence.

He didn't use those words because he didn't have to use those words because his base understands, just like he doesn't have to go out and call for violence against the judges or prosecutors going after him, they just know that this is what they're supposed to do. Now, that's what his base has been trained to do, and they understand exactly what that statement means. Trump easily could have said, no, no, no, nothing's gonna happen. Don't worry about it. But he didn't. He said it depends. So that right there is the signal to the base. Listen, if I say this election was rigged, y'all know what to do. And Trump, of course, in this one particular area has gotten smart enough to know, he can say just enough to not get in trouble, but also push it to

The point where his base gets the wink and a nod kind of thing. And that is exactly what that statement is about. Donald Trump did not call for violence. Donald Trump did not say there would be violence, but he has enough coded language in that one tiny statement alone so that his base knows exactly what they have to do in November if he doesn't win.
