7:56Now PlayingRahiel Tesfamariam, the director of communications for Live Free USA, joins Yodit Tewolde on "Making the Case" to discuss Black trauma and how it's often exploited.
Video of Black people dying at the hands of police has circulated the internet for years and often gone viral, ultimately desensitizing people to Black trauma.
"You see it not only in the police brutality but in the media. There's a long history of Hollywood commodifying Black bodies and glorifying Black pain. It's the idea that we're superhuman, that there's something about us that can absorb all this pain and we're not actually feeling it," Tesfamariam says.
