Following days-long protests, community outrage and teaching staff resignations, the board voted in favor of granting her tenure. The move comes after collective disapproval and accusations of systemic racism at the university.
President of the Black Student Movement at UNC Chapel Hill, Taliajah M. Vann, and law professor at UNC, Erika K. Wilson, joined “Black News Tonight” with Marc Lamont Hill to speak on the decision. Vann, who was in attendance of the meeting, also speaks about student treatment while they were there.
